On June 23, 2020, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Israel-Ukraine signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Lviv Regional State Administration, the Lviv City Council, the Lviv Polytechnic National University and the Scientific park of Lviv Polytechnic National University. The main goal of the Memorandum is to cooperate on projects in the field of IT, technology and biotechnology.

The main goals and prospects of signing the Memorandum:

  • To deepen Ukrainian-Israeli cooperation in the field of startups and innovations
  • To expand cooperation between Ukraine and Israel in the field of science and education
  • To promote the development of joint business projects in Ukraine and Israel
  • To create a presentation center for Ukrainian-Israeli technology, which will be located in Lviv at the Lviv Polytechnic National University

Lviv region:

  • An area of ​​21.8 thousand km2, which is 3.6% of the territory of Ukraine
  • According to the Main Department of Statistics in the Lviv region, the population of the Lviv region (October 1, 2019) amounted to 2 million 541 thousand people
  • The region is located in three zones: forest, forest-steppe, foothill and mountainous regions of the Carpathians. Forests occupy more than a quarter of the area
  • The main European watershed between the basins of the Baltic and Black Seas passes through the region
  • The state border with the Republic of Poland with a length of 278.2 km passes through the territory of the region
  • Natural resources of Lviv region: coal, sulfur, peat, potash and salt, various construction materials.
  • The following industries are developed in the region: mechanical engineering, woodworking, chemical industry, coal mining (Lviv-Volyn coal basin), light and food industries

Lviv Polytechnic National University:

  • The oldest higher technical educational institution in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, founded in 1816 as the Cisar-Royal Real School
  • Consists of 16 institutes, 114 departments, separate educational institutions, public organizations and general divisions
  • In 2009 received research status
  • The only Ukrainian university which entered the 100 best universities in the world behind the version of the “World University Rankings Times Higher Education ranking” in 2019 (in the field of information technology)
  • The only technical university in Ukraine, which was included in the overall ranking of the “World University Rankings Times Higher Education” and ratings in the fields of “Engineering and Technology” and “Physical Sciences”
  • The leader among higher educational institutions of Ukraine in the number of bilateral international scientific projects completed in 2017-2019
  • The first among universities in Ukraine became the coordinator of a project funded by the Horizon 2020 program
